John Marshall Law School Professor Named Author-in-Residence at St. John's University School of Law

Professor Cecil Hunt of The John Marshall Law School in Chicago has been named Author-in-Residence at St. John's University School of Law.

Professor Cecil Hunt of The John Marshall Law School in Chicago has been named Author-in-Residence at St. John's University School of Law.

Hunt was named Author-in-Residence after his article, The Jim Crowing Effect: Denial, Human Rights, and Dignity, in Racialized Mass Incarceration, was chosen for publication in the St. John's University School of Law's Journal of Civil Rights and Economic Empowerment. The editorial board of the Journal deemed Hunt's piece the best article published of the 2015-2016 academic year.

As part of Hunt's appointment, he will visit St. John's to meet with deans, faculty and students to discuss the topic of his article and various aspects of race and society in America.

Hunt has taught at John Marshall since 2004. He teaches Property; Secured Transactions; Human Rights, Race, and Mass Incarceration; International Human Rights; and International Comparative Constitutional Human Rights. Before joining the faculty at John Marshall, Hunt taught at Suffolk University Law School, Touro Law Center and University of Seattle Law School. Hunt received his bachelor's degree from Harvard College and his law degree from Boston College Law School.
